Village Approves Annexation
Wednesday, August 22, 2007
At a special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees, held Tuesday night, the Board found in favor of the William J. Auble Petition
for Annexation in a 4-1 vote (Trustee Hart dissenting). Reasons cited by the Board in their finding to approve included long term financial gains, the opportunity to regulate
zoning on the property, the potential for future development, and improved walkability, among others.
Before annexation can become a reality the Ulysses Town Board must also vote in favor of annexation. If they do so, the proposal will be
submitted to a referendum of the registered voters of the territory proposed to be annexed. The Town has stated that their vote will take place on Monday, August 27, at 7pm.
NOTE: The Annexation Approval Findings, and the
Dissenting Opinion are available here and on the Forms Page.
Comprehensive Plan Vision Statement Survey
Friday, August 3, 2007
The writing of a new Village Comprehensive Plan is entering its next phase. Vision Statements and Strategies have been drafted, based on the
results of last summer's Comprehensive Plan Survey, suggestions from workshop attendees, and research into comprehensive plans from other communities, similar to Trumansburg, in various parts
of New York State.
The Village is once again seeking input from residents as to the content of the Draft Vision Statements and Strategies. A survey containing the text of the Draft, along with space for comment,
will be mailed early next week. In addition, the Draft is available for download HERE, or on the
Comprehensive Plan page. This PDF file can be filled out on screen.
The Village is asking that residents please take ten minutes to fill out the survey, then submit them by Monday, August 20, 2007. Drop boxes will be available for hard copy
submissions at the Trumansburg ShurSave, Trumansburg Save-a-lot, the Trumansburg branch of the Tompkins Trust Company, the Ulysses Philomathic Library or the Village Hall. You
are also welcome to download the survey, fill it out on screen, and then email
it to us (be sure and save a copy on your computer first).
This survey is an important step towards the completion of the Village's Comprehensive Plan. We sincerely thank you for your participation and your help in shaping the future of Trumansburg!
